PROM IS TONIGHT! Michelle Obama & MTV’s Virtual Prom-athon Will Be LIT! Chloe x Halle, Tory Lanez & More Performing!

Prom is tonight! Michelle Obama and MTV will be hosting a LIT virtual prom for high schoolers who can’t attend their proms in person. And they’ll be rocking out to a nice line up of performances, which include Chloe x Halle, Tory Lanez and more. Find out how to tune in inside…

Prom is tonight!

High schoolers across the nation will be logging in virtually to turn up for Prom-athon! And the virtual event will feature several special performances.

DJ Khaled will take the reins as ‘Prom Boss’ and kick off an epic night of performances from Chloe x Halle, DJ Pauly D and KYLE with special appearances from Bebe Rexha, Becky G, When We All Vote Ambassador Fat Joe and Co-Chair Janelle Monáe, Mr. Quarantine Radio himself Tory Lanez and more, plus tutorials from Julianne Hough (dance), internet sensation Bretman Rock (glam) and celebrity stylist Chris Appleton (hair).

In partnership with Michelle Obama’s nonpartisan organization, When We All Vote, MTV's Prom-athon looks to celebrate the Class of 2020, whose proms and graduations have all been canceled due to COVID-19, with a special focus on commemorating another important milestone for young people this year: registering and voting in the national election in November.

The 24-hour star-studded event will kick off with an all-day on-air takeover on MTV featuring prom-themed throwback movies, including 17 Again, Bring It On, Clueless and Grease, and short-form original content highlighting the winning schools and students of the 2020 Prom Challenge for creating the most creative nonpartisan voter registration efforts in the country.

Following the takeover, MTV and When We All Vote’s Prom-athon will stream live tonight at 9PM ET/PT on MTV YouTube and will be featured on MTV’s platforms globally.

Last week, Forever First Lady surprised student leaders from the 20 winning high schools in a private Zoom call, where they learned about their win and received congratulations for their efforts and impact of the work. Additionally, she announced that the 24-hour star-studded MTV event would bring students from across the country together.

Before COVID-19, twenty high schools with the most creative and impactful voter registration programs were going to be selected to win $5,000 to fund their proms and/or their nonpartisan voter registration efforts. The pandemic came in and changed those plans, but Mrs. O and MTV are making it happen anyway!

Have fun tonight, grads!
