R. Kelly has been hit with a new felony bribery charge that involves him marrying Aaliyah – who was a minor at the time. Deets on the new charge, plus find out when Kelly is expected back in court inside….

R. Kelly is still sitting behind bars on felony racketeering and sex abuse charges. And now, he has a new charge under his belt.

The embattled singer is being accused of bribing an Illinois official to get a fake ID for an unnamed female a day before he secretly tied the knot with 15-year-old Aaliyah in 1994. According to federal prosecutors in New York (who filed the indictment yesterday), the charge alleges the Grammy Award winner gave instructions to someone in August 1994 to bribe a public official into making a false “identification document” for someone the feds are referring to as “Jane Doe #1.”

It’s reported, Kelly got the ID on August 30, 1994. The singer – who was 27 at the time - married an underaged Aaliyah on August 31, 1994 with falsified paperwork that said she was 18-years-old when she really was 15.

As you all know, once word got back to Aaliyah’s family that she had married Kelly, they had the marriage annulled.

The “I Believe I Can I Fly” singer’s attorney – Steve Greenberg – said he’s still reviewing the new indictment, however, it “does not appear to materially alter the landscape."

“We continue to look forward to the day he is free,” he told the Chicago Tribune by text.

Kelly is sitting behind bars after he was picked up by the feds and charged with racketeering predicated on criminal conduct, including sexual exploitation of children, kidnapping, forced labor and Mann Act violations. They’re accusing him of identifying underage girls who attended his concerts and groomed them later for sexual abuse.

The 52-year-old was also hit with a 13-count indictment in Chicago for allegedly conspiring with two former employees to help him during his 2008 child pornography trial in Cook County. He’s accused of paying off witlessness and victims to change their stories so he could be acquitted.

He was also charged in Cook County criminal court with four separate indictments that accuse him of sexual misconduct for over more than a decade. Three of the four alleged victims were underage at the time. As you know, Kelly has plead not guilty on all the charges brought against him.

Cook Country Judge Lawrence Flood ordered R. Kelly (who’s being held without bond) to stand trial on one of the four sexual abuse cases on September 14th. It’s unclear which of the cases prosecutors will take to trial first. In a recent hearing, the judge told prosecutors he wants to know which of the four separate indictments they plan to take to trial first by January 22nd.

He’s already set to stand trail in federal court in Chicago in April and he’s also expected in federal court in Brooklyn next month.

If Kelly is convicted in all jurisdictions, he could potentially face the rest of his life in prison.

Sure isn’t looking like he’ll be seeing the light of day anytime soon. Also, if you haven't heard the latest about R. Kelly's girlfriends supposedly turning on him, you can catch up on those deets HERE.
