Cuba Gooding Jr. is facing new charges, and he just pulled up in court in Manhattan to start his sexual abuse trial. Details inside.
Back in June, actor Cuba Gooding Jr. was accused of groping a woman at a Times Square area rooftop bar. The 29-year-old plaintiff claims he was intoxicated when he placed his hand on her breast and squeezed it without her consent.
Cuba was arrested and charged, despite denying any wrongdoing, and he begins his trial today in that case.
But that's not all he's facing today. NYPD says they are now investigating several other domestic violence complaints against Cuba, and a grand jury handed down an indictment for previous incidents not initially included in his current charges.
As for what those other charges are exactly, they will reportedly remain sealed until he's due back in court on Tuesday, October 15th, the date his trial has now been postponed to due to the newly added charge. It's unclear if these charges are involving the same alleged victim as in his current sexual abuse case.
Cuba attempted to get the case thrown out recently, but the judge refused. Now, the case has changed from Criminal Court to the Supreme Court, which means the new charge(s) could be much more serious, like a felony for example.
The Oscar winner was spotted arriving to court this morning (above) for his initial charges, and he left this afternoon without speaking to media. But he was all smiles for the cameras.
He could face up to a year in prison, or more, if convicted.
