Lupita Nyong'o graces the cover of Vanity Fair for the first time and - of course - she slayed. Her spread is fire too. Go inside to see the gorgeous pictorial and what she said about how  Beyonce helped her through the biggest fashion night of her career....

Lupita Nyong'o is one of the most powerful Black women in film. She's also a fashion icon young girls and women look up to when it comes to perfectly executing a fashion forward 'fit. The Black Panther star graces the cover of Vanity Fair for the first time ever and - no surprise here - she nailed it like none other.

The perfection.

In 2014, the biggest night of her career was on the horizon as she had been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. It was a history making night as the Kenyan beauty won the award for her role in 12 Years a Slave, serving up an inspirational acceptance speech in a baby blue Prada gown.

It was a career-altering moment for the young actress, becoming the sixth woman black actress to win the award. She also became the first Black African to win an Academy Award for acting.

Before she wowed the world in that blue Prada gown, her team was a ball of NERVES leading up to the moment she hit the red carpet. Her publicist suggested they they do a dress rehearsal before the big night, but Lupita wasn't with it.

“To give me that kind of grandeur would be crippling for me," she shared with Vanity Fair.

On the morning of the Oscars, Lupita's glam squad was a ball of nervousness!

"They were physically shaking, they were so nervous," she recalled.

The 12 Years a Slave star had the perfect antidote to kill all of the nervous vibes. Beyonce! Lupita turned on the stereo and blasted Bey's “Grown Woman" and it was just what her team needed.

“Beyoncé did the trick. We danced it off, we had a good laugh, and then we sat down.”

Yas! Queen Bey always does the trick.

The fashion queen described her style as classic, but she also likes to embrace out-of-the-box looks.

“I find I love the elegant, the classic, the simple, but I also like the outrageous and the quirky and the almost accidental.”
