After 31 years, Eddie Murphy’s cult classic, “Coming to America" is finally getting a sequel and the actor has already tapped some major talent to join the stellar cast! Details inside…

Gather 'round!  Black America's all time favorite movie just got some new faces added to it.

With a confirmed release date of December 18, 2020, the “Coming to America” sequel is officially coming to fruition.

The film has reportedly been in the works for several years with director Jonathan Levine previously attached to the project. While Eddie Murphy will reprise his role of Akeem in the upcoming film, Variety reports that he has recruited acting veterans, like Wesley Snipes, and that he is in talks to bring “SNL” cast member Leslie Jones on board to join the cast.

The 1988 original film was a major success, grossing nearly $300 million at the box office worldwide. The original comedy starred Murphy as Prince Akeem and Arsenio Hall as Akeem’s best friend, Semmi. Legendary actor James Earl Jones took on the role of King Jaffe Joffer and Paul Bates as Oha, each of which will be reprising their roles in the sequel. Woot!

Part 2 of the film will follow Prince Akeem as he prepares to finally become King of the Zamunda, until he discovers an unknown son in America -  a Queens native named Lavelle. Oop! To honor the former King’s dying wish to groom his grandson as the crown prince, Akeem and Semmi set off again to America in search of Lavelle.

If the sequel is anything like the original, or better, then we’ll be laughing for the next 31 years!
